Apple Should Sign Howard Stern and Launch 'Podcasts+'
Look, I'm not saying Apple has a podcast problem. But only because I'm not sure Apple cares that they have a podcast problem. The format, which the company helped give a name to, quite literally, has basically always been neglected by Apple. The reason why should be obvious: they make no money from it. They can say this doesn't matter but in a company of "a thousand no's for every yes" it does matter. It's a nice-to-have, a legacy thing, but not a priority.
Look no further than the product. It has languished for years as a completely underfunded service and application which is a default on every major Apple device. Billions of them. For years and years, there were just a handful of people working on the service inside Apple. At the same time, the format started to soar...
