Signal: Sora Break(s) π§
It took three days, but I finally figured out a way to break my Sora addiction: get rate-limited. I've been hitting it (it seems to be 100 videos created in 24 hours, at least for the 'Plus' tier) all day. Still having fun though. Still wondering how long it all lasts. If nothing else, a tidal wave of lawsuits is undoubtedly about to hit...

π£οΈ Google's Gemini Home Event β One day after Amazon's nearly identically themed event, Google's seemed a bit more dialed in. In some ways their strategy with bringing Gemini into the home is almost the opposite of Amazon's. While they're mainly focused on new devices to spread Alexa+, Google wants to prioritize the millions of devices already in homes β even those long-since discontinued, dating back a decade! (It sounds like Gemini Live may even work with these, if you have the right paid plan?) To the point where they oddly pre-announced a new Home Speaker which won't ship until Spring 2026. Why? Nobody knows. But maybe don't buy one of the about-to-be-worse ones for the next six months or so? Google also sounds more confident in Gemini fully working and replacing their OG 'Assistant', but they're also still slow-rolling it out, much like Amazon (for obvious reasons). Otherwise, both companies almost seem more interested in their cameras β wonder why that might be when you're also a company focused on training AI models which have run out of text-based data to ingest... Too cynical? Maybe! Probably? Probably not! [Bloomberg π]
